Hormones

Hormones, what an enigma, right?! Our bodies are extremely amazing with what they do on the smallest cellular level, yet if one thing gets out of whack, it can profoundly affect how we look and feel. Very often if you present to a physician with complaints of chronic fatigue, acne, unexplainable weight gain or stubborn weight loss, etc., it is brushed off as “well, you’re just a woman”, “eat less and exercise more”, or “here is birth control” to help manage your symptoms. These are all pet peeves of mine!

First of all, yes, we are women. But that shouldn’t keep us from getting to the root of why are hormones are out of balance and in what way. We must get lab work along with a signs and symptom survey to determine which hormones we need to get back into balance. Often times, if hormones are out of balance, no amount of food restriction or excessive exercise will help get the results you want. And birth control? In the extensive research I have been doing to best help my clients, I have found the side effects and long term effects of hormonal birth control are WORSE than the symptoms it’s trying to improve. Also, it’s basically a band-aid to issues rather than treating the actual cause. If you are currently taking birth control and would like help coming off of it, I can help you with that!
